The Quality of Drinking Water ...
- 0
Faisalabad is the third largest city of Pakistan with a population of 3.76 million in its urban areas. The total design capacities of existing water supply facilities amounted to 500,000 m3/day (110 MGD) and fulfilled only about 77% of the total water demand of 650,000 m3/day (143 MGD). The difference of 149,000 m3/day (33 MGD) constitutes the shortage of the present water supply capacity. Therefore, Master Plan of Faisalabad suggested a number of priority projects and WASA-F engaged Enviro Consult to conduct Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Study for rehabilitation of the Jhal Khanuwana Water Treatment Plant and construction of distribution centers (DC) as a high priority project.
